Board of Directors

Information on our Board of Directors

OPALCO members elect a 7-member Board of Directors each May. Board meetings are scheduled the third Thursday of each month on a schedule that rotates between Orcas, Lopez and San Juan islands. OPALCO members are welcome at board meetings. Agendas (with location and time information) are posted one week in advance of each meeting.

Let's Go Custom - Local Energy Efficiency Projects Create Big Savings

This past week OPALCO handed out rebate checks totaling $22,184.00.  The two custom designed energy efficiency projects are expected to save 137,075 kWh per year.  That is equivalent to taking approximately 11 average houses off the grid. OPALCO is a non-profit, member-owned electric cooperative that distributes electricity to 20 islands in the Salish Sea archipelago and employs approximately 50 people in San Juan County. The Co-op is governed by a seven-member board of directors who are elected by a vote of the members each year at the annual meeting.
